“11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month”

Today, as we collectively pause to observe Veterans Day, a profound sense of gratitude fills the hearts of Americans across the nation. It is a day to honor and express our deepest appreciation for the men and women who have donned the uniform, dedicating their lives to preserving the freedoms we hold dear.

In reflecting on this day, I find it fitting to take a personal moment to express my heartfelt thanks to some extraordinary individuals in my own family who have selflessly served in the United States military. Their commitment to duty and sacrifice has left an indelible mark on our lives and the fabric of our great nation.

James E. Kennedy, Sr. (Father) – US Army National Guard, Korea: A beacon of strength and resilience, my father served in the US Army National Guard during the Korean War. His devotion to duty and love for his country set a powerful example for our family.

James E. Kennedy, Jr. (Brother) – US Army: My brother, following in our father’s footsteps, answered the call to serve in the US Army. His commitment to defending the ideals we hold dear has been an inspiration to us all.

Frank Kennedy (Grandfather) – US Army, WWI & WWII: A true patriot, my grandfather served in both World Wars, demonstrating unwavering courage and dedication. His legacy of service echoes through the generations.

Thomas Cobb (Father-in-Law) – US Army, Vietnam: In the tumultuous era of Vietnam, my father-in-law bravely served in the US Army, contributing to the defense of freedom in a challenging time.

Christopher Cobb (Brother-in-law) – US Navy: A member of the US Navy, my brother-in-law exemplifies the maritime strength that has been crucial to our nation’s defense.

Earl Cobb (Grandfather-in-Law) – US Army, WWII: A hero of the Greatest Generation, my grandfather-in-law served in the US Army during World War II. His sacrifices, along with countless others, paved the way for the freedoms we cherish today.

Kenneth Mallette Sr. (Uncle) – US Army, Korea: My uncle’s service in the US Army during the Korean War reflects a commitment to defending liberty in the face of adversity.

Sue Sturgeon (Aunt) – US Army, Vietnam: My aunt’s service in the US Army during the Vietnam War is a testament to the resilience and strength of women in uniform.

John Kennedy (Cousin) – US Marines: My cousin’s dedication as a Marine showcases the elite force that stands ready to defend our nation at a moment’s notice.

(Cousin), Joseph Mallette (Cousin) and Paula Mallette (Cousin) – US Army: The Mallette cousins, embody the spirit of camaraderie and sacrifice that defines our military.

Henry Kenaston (Uncle) – US Army: My uncle’s service in the US Army further reinforces the tradition of valor within our family.

This list only scratches the surface of the veterans within my family, each one contributing to the rich tapestry of service that has shaped our lives. Beyond blood ties, the circle of gratitude extends to numerous close friends and extended family members who have also bravely worn the uniform.

On this Veterans Day, let us collectively express our deepest appreciation to all veterans, past and present, for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their sacrifices, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty have safeguarded the principles upon which our nation was built.

As we salute our heroes, let us also remember the families who have supported them, sharing in the sacrifices and triumphs that come with service to our great nation. May the spirit of Veterans Day inspire us to honor their legacy and uphold the values they have defended so valiantly.

God Bless America!
