CSMS & PGES SAEC Meetings Jan. 24th, 2011

Monday, January 24th, 2011, I attended School Advisory Enhancement Council (SAEC) meetings at Citrus Springs Middle School (CSMS) and Pleasant Grove Elementary School (PGES).

CSMS SAEC

Guidance C ounselor   Tracie Stokes hared that CSES has been chosen as one of the middle schools to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).  The NAEP is a periodic assessment of student progress conducted in the United States by the National Center for Education Statistics, a division of the U.S. Department of Education. The assessment covers the areas of mathematics, reading, writing, science, and more. The NAEP results  are  released as “The Nation’s Report Card” and can be used by state and federal policymaker s.

Principal David Roland, Assistant Principal Jennifer Sasser ,  and Assistant Principal Bill Nelson presented the CSMS Mid Year Review.

CSMS will have their annual  “Falcon Family Fun Fest” fundraiser   on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 ,  from 4:30 to 7:30.  They will have 4 inflatables, a dunk tank, a car smash, carnival games, an auction, and concession s . Admission will be $2 and will include all carnival games.  This annual fundraiser benefits our Falcon Families as money raised will help our families in time of need.

CSES will have its next SAEC meeting on Monday, March 21st at 4:00pm.

PGES SAEC

Principal Lynne Kirby shared with SAEC the current enrollment numbers and then presented the Mid-year School Improvement and Parent Involvement Plan Reviews.  Teacher on Special AssignmentJ   ulie Jones shared the new Science textbook adoption update and then Assistant Principal Rob Hermann spoke about technology and the new computers PGES and all Citrus county schools are receiving.  The PTA spoke about the upcoming “Sweet Heart Dance” which is a dance where a student invites a parent or grandparent to  attend  with them.

PGES will have its next SAEC meeting on Monday, February 28th at 7:00pm.
