Congressional Aide David Halbstein Visits Academy of Health Careers, CTE and NJROTC, Commends Student Excellence

Mr. David Halbstein, an aide to Congressman Gus Bilirakis, recently visited the Academy of Health Careers at Crystal River High School, leaving an indelible mark with his insightful tour that also included visits to the Drafting Academy and Naval JROTC Units. It was a day filled with inspiration and learning as he explored the educational opportunities that Citrus County has to offer.

Accompanied by Darrick Buettner, Director of Special Academic Programs, and Principal McLeod, the visit provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase the exceptional student opportunities available within the county.

At the Academy of Health Careers, Mr. Halbstein had the chance to explore the various pathways available, including Biotechnical, Certified Nursing Assistant, Dental, EMT, and Vet Assistant programs. He engaged with the students, offering them valuable insights and encouragement.

During his tour of the Naval JROTC program, Chief Warrant Rivera had the honor of sharing with Mr. Halbstein the prestigious award that Crystal River High School’s NJROTC had received from the Department of The Navy Naval Service Training Command as a Distinguished Unit for the 2023-24 school year. This was the fourth time in five years that CRHS NJROTC had achieved this prestigious honor. It is a testament to the outstanding support provided by the school and the remarkable achievements of the Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. David Halbstein for his visit and to Congressman Gus Bilirakis for their continued support. Their interest in our educational programs is truly appreciated, and we look forward to continuing to provide exceptional opportunities for our students in Citrus County.
