How to help

How to help

Thank you, everyone, for the outpouring of support you all have shown me. It is so appreciated by my family and me.

Many of you have been reaching out asking how you can begin helping and contributing to our campaign. One of the initial ways is to make a campaign contribution. These initial contributions are a great help, and no amount is too small.

Please know there will also be other opportunities to be involved in the future. In addition, please continue to lift us up in your prayers.

LPS Visit

LPS Visit

It is always great spending time in our schools. I love touring our classrooms. During a school visit today at Lecanto Primary School they have a couple of special ways they are showing their appreciation to their teachers and staff.

One is that they cut out red hearts that are put on the doors of the teachers’ classrooms and other staff members leave random kind notes of encouragement and praise for that teacher.

The second was an idea that came from students who wanted to provide their teachers with a special breakfast to start each day. With the funding help of the LPS Parent Teach Organization (PTO) the students decorated a cart and filled it with morning snacks and goodies that the students bring around to the teachers. What a great student initiative!

the Citrus County Property Appraiser’s Office

I was honored today to attend a special Purple Heart Proclamation Ceremony designating the Citrus County Property Appraiser Office as a Purple Heart Entity.

I was grateful to support Cregg Dalton and the whole County Property Appraiser Office and represent Citrus County School District, America’s “first” Purple Heart school district Entity.

Special thank you to the Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776 Military Order of the Purple Heart for this designation.

Presidents’ Day

Presidents’ Day

Happy Presidents’ Day a.k.a. Washington’s Birthday

US PresidentsToday we celebrate our United States Presidents. Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. Presidents past and present. (source: http://www.history.com/topics/holidays/presidents-day)

A book I recommend on our U.S. Presidents that is a favorite of mine is, ‘The Presidents Club: Inside the World’s Most Exclusive Fraternity’ by Nancy Gibbs. It is the inside story of the world’s most exclusive fraternity; how presidents from Hoover through Obama worked with—and sometimes, against–each other when they were in and out of power.
