CRP Science Fair

CRP Science Fair

It was an honor to be a judge at the Crystal River Primary School science fair last week. The students had worked hard on their projects and it was impressive to see the level of creativity and critical thinking they displayed.

The top winners from the Crystal River Primary School science fair will now have the opportunity to compete at the Citrus Regional Science and Engineering Fair. This is a great opportunity for these students to showcase their work on a larger stage and potentially earn even more recognition for their achievements.

As a judge, it was difficult to choose just a few winners out of the many talented students who participated. Each project demonstrated a deep understanding of the scientific principles being studied and the students were able to effectively communicate their findings. I was particularly impressed by the projects that focused on real-world problems and offered potential solutions. I was also impressed how much these projects also overlapped in teaching students about economics and product value.

The Crystal River Primary School science fair was a huge success and I am excited to see how the top winners fare at the Citrus Regional Science and Engineering Fair. I have no doubt that they will continue to impress and inspire with their innovative ideas and dedication to scientific exploration.

I must add a special thanks to CRP instructional coach Jessica Barker who was this year’s science fair coordinator. It takes so much to coordinate this event add each school and we so appreciate our science fair coordinators.

CHS Choir opens this week’s School Board Meeting

CHS Choir opens this week’s School Board Meeting

It was a joyous occasion at the Citrus County School District School Board meeting this Tuesday, as the talented choir from Citrus High School took to the stage to spread some holiday cheer. Led by the capable and dedicated director John Edel, the choir’s beautiful voices filled the room with the sounds of Christmas.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to John Edel and the entire choir for their wonderful performance. They truly brought the holiday spirit to the school board meeting and helped to kick off the festive season in style. We wish them all the best for the rest of the holiday season, and hope that they have a wonderful time with their families and friends.

What a wonderful evening last night at the Galaxy of the Stars Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year celebration.

I was grateful to again offer the invocation to open the event to honor these amazing people.

Congratulations to all the evening’s STARs, special congratulations to Lita Stanton from Citrus High School for being named our 2024 Teacher of the Year and Angelica Lefevers from Lecanto Primary School our 2023 School-Related Employee of the Year.

Special shout out to event announcers (and comedians) Dr. Scott Hebert and Amy Crowell. You again did an outstanding job!

Thank you to our Citrus County Education Foundation, its leader Shaunda Burdette, staff, directors, and the many tireless volunteers, for the awesome work making the event happen and for all the special gifts for all our honorees.  We are so blessed to have the greatest education foundation (CCEF) in the world. Lastly, a very special thanks to Amy Barbieri and her team for the stunning event theme, decoration, and beauty. Ms. Barbieri once again outdid herself for our honorees.
