Thank you Citrus County Chronicle Editorial Board for their excellent editorial published on Saturday, February 27th, 2016, ‘Local Public Money Belongs In Local Public Schools‘, on how the Florida Legislature is again going to great lengths to promote private charter school expansion and who will financially benefit. No surprise it is not the local public school students or taxpayers. Read the entire editorial below.
The Chronicle concludes, “Forcing taxpayers to fund charter schools in the manner proposed would dilute the pool of money available to public schools, and therefore necessarily degrade the quality of public education.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Another excellent editorial this weekend was by FundFloridaNow.org, ‘FL Senate “Train bills” confuse & distract until it’s too late‘ that explains the details about “train bills” like the ones the Chronicle mentions in their editorial. This is a must read.
